What God says about … SACRIFICE

Before Jesus came —

Moses said, “Take a lamb according to your families, and kill it as a SACRIFICE. … Mark the blood on the top and sideposts of your door. … Roast and eat it … and when I (the Lord) see the blood I will pass over you. … Your firstborn will not be destroyed. … And when your children shall say, “What is the meaning of this service?”, you shall say — “It is the SACRIFICE of the Lord’s passover.” And the people bowed the head and worshipped.      - Exodus 12:21-27

To obey is better than SACRIFICE, and to harken than the fat of rams.       - 1 Samuel 15:22

So they took the bull and killed and prepared it and called on the name of their god from morning until noon, saying, “O Baal hear us.” But no one answered. They cried aloud all afternoon and cut themselves with knives and lances, but there was no voice or answer.

Then God’s prophet Elijah built an altar of 12 stones, laid the wood and the slaughtered bull in order, surrounded it by a trench filled with 12 barrels of water, and he said, “Lord God, let it be known that You are God and I am Your servant.” And the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the SACRIFICE and the wood and the stones and the dust and licked up the water in the trench.

So they seized the prophets of Baal and took them down to the brook Kishon and executed them there.      - 1 Kings 18:25

If I truly believe, will I perish?

Most assuredly I (Jesus) say to you, one who believes in Me has everlasting life.      - John 6:47

Many believed in His Name when they saw the miracles which He did. But Jesus did not commit Himself to them because He knew everyone. … He knew what was in man.      - John 2:23-25

Pennies

They watched Him, that they might catch a word against Him … and they said, “We know that You teach the way of God truly …. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”

But Jesus perceived their craftiness and He said, “Why do you tempt Me? Show Me a PENNY …. Whose image and superscription does it have?”

And they said, “Caesar’s.”

And He said, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s — and TO GOD THE THINGS THAT ARE GOD’S.”

And they marvelled at Him, and held their peace.

(Luke 20:20-26)

And Jesus, weary with His journey, sat on the well-side. And His disciples went away into the city to buy food. …

Jesus lifted up his eyes and saw a great company (about 5,000 men plus families), and He said to Philip, “Whence shall we buy bread that these may eat?”

Philip said, “TWO HUNDRED PENNYWORTH of bread would not be enough that everyone might take a little …!”

John 4:6-8; 6:5-13

(But Jesus supplied abundance plus leftovers. Why is He not here now? Because the world did not want Him!)

Morning — the householder found unemployed men in the marketplace and said, “Go work today in my vineyard and I will give you a PENNY” (a common day’s wages).

Close to day’s end, he found other jobless and sent them to work also, adding, “Whatever is right I will give you.”

But at day’s end, every man received a PENNY. “More for us!” said the morning workers.

“Friend, I have done you no wrong. I have kept our agreement.”

Matthew 20:1-15

(God’s grace is far beyond our rights! Come and see. Respond to Jesus, Saviour of sinners!)

What God says about DEATH

By one man, sin entered the world, and death by sin, so death passed upon all, because all have sinned. (Rom 5:12) It is appointed to men once to die, and after this the judgement. (Hebrews 9:27) (The devil) said, “You shall not surely die”. (Genesis 3:4)

God does not regard the rich more than the poor … In a moment, they die. … Man dies and wastes away … and where is he? … If a man die, shall he live again? (Job 34:19-20; 14:10,14)

Jonah … wished for himself that he might die, for he said, “It is better for me to die than to live”. (Jonah 4:8) The sorrow of the world works death. (2 Corinthians 7:10)

The wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23) There is just a step between me and death. (1 Samuel 20:3) O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from this body of death? (Romans 7:24)

While we were still sinners, CHRIST DIED FOR US! (Romans 5:8) He shall swallow up death in victory! (Isaiah 25:8) Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures. … The sting of death is sin. … But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through out Lord Jesus Christ! (1 Corinthians 15:3,56)

Jesus said, “If you die in your sins, where I am you cannot come.” (John 8:21) And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God. (Revelation 20:12)

The gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23) The dead in Christ shall rise first … and so shall we be forever with the Lord. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17) And there shall be no more death. (Revelation 21:4)

“As I live,” says the Lord, “I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked. … Turn ye, turn ye, for why will ye die?” (Ezekiel 33:11)

A True Witch Story

Samuel, the prophet of the Lord, was dead and buried, and all Israel mourned him. And king Saul put away all witches and wizards out of the land. …

And when King Saul saw the enemy [Philistines] against him, he was afraid and prayed, but the Lord answered him not.

Then Saul said to his servants, “Find a witch that I may get an answer from her.”

And they said, “There is a witch at Endor.”

So Saul went under disguise with two servants and came to the witch at night. And he said, “Use your powers and bring up from the grave the one I will name.”

And she said, “Look, you know that the king has forbidden this. Are you laying a trap for me?”

But he assured her, “As the Lord lives, there will be no punishment to you for this.”

“Then who shall I bring up?”

“Bring me up Samuel.”

But when she saw the real Samuel, she cried aloud and said, “Why did you deceive me? You are Saul!”

And the king said, “Don’t be afraid. What did you see?” …
